Shoegaze of the Day:

STAR HORSE

This Swedish group serve a plateful of gaze sprinkled with jars and jars of hooks. Star Horse mixes spaced out tunes with hints of late 80’s dream pop all throughout. Reminiscent of all your favorite bands, Star Horse’s reverby vocals and loud guitars will not disappoint.

Shoegaze of the Day:

TECHNICOLOR TEETH

I was turned onto this loud shoegazey band indirectly through one of my favorite punk bands ever, TENEMENT. Their singer/guitar player Amos plays drums for this band. Technicolor Teeth mixes extremely loud and noisy pop hooks with some spaced out guitars. If you are into Jesus and Mary Chain but can respect some grit to it. The spaced out guitars and reverbed vocals with the wall of driven sound make for a good time.

Hey guys

This is another apology post. I have been swamped and have had no time for shoegaze blogging.

That ends today!

Gauntlet Hair - Top Bunk

These kids are local to me.  Lots of reverb and weird poppy noises. If you’re into Animal Collective (admit it it’s okay) you should try it.

Rolling in the Deep (Adele Cover) by Work Drugs

Turned my sorrow into treasured gold

Usually, I’m very iffy about Adele covers because they can never live up to the original. A cover can either be spectacular even transcending or it can be a total disaster. In the case of Work Drugs’ cover of one of last year’s biggest hits, it’s the former! Their re-work is amazing they took the song to another level. The stripped back the original and the only thing recognizable is the lyrics which we all know by heart. It’s a refreshing take from all the Rolling in the Deep covers out there.

Find Work Drugs here and on bandcamp!

We sure do love Work Drugs here at SGOTD.

Sorry for the lack of Shoegaze of the Days.

School has begun, and I have been totally swamped. It will soon all level out, and I will be able to give your ears their daily dose of space noises soon enough.

Until then, keep submitting bands (your friends bands, your band, cool bands, classic bands I haven’t posted about)! I am also working on an inter based gift for you too, you know, for being a patient bunch.

Thanks,
SGOTD
